MARKWICK GARDENS ASSOCIATION
RULES 2008
The name of the Association is to be the Markwick Gardens Association.
The Objects of the Association - The upkeep, care and maintenance of the Markwick Gardens for the benefit and enjoyment of all members and their subscription shall be used for that purpose.
Membership is open to all those flat/house owners and persons interested in the upkeep of the Gardens who are acceptable to the Association.
Subscriptions shall fall due on the 1st April and are to be paid to the Treasurer no later than the 30th April that year. (The subscription is presently £30. It is anticipated that an increase will be proposed at the 2008 AGM.)
The Committee shall consist of Chairman, Honorary Secretary Membership, Honorary Secretary Correspondence, Honorary Treasurer and such other committee members as the Annual General Meeting may decide. Five shall form a quorum. The Committee shall have power to fill any vacancies.
Meetings - An Annual General Meeting is to be held in order to:
Revision of Rules - The Association reserves to itself the right to alter or amend, from time to time, the Rules of the Association. This may only be done at the Annual General Meeting or at an Extraordinary General Meeting, which may be called by the Secretary at the request of five members of the Association.
Gates - The key code for the gate locks is issued to each member when joining, on payment of a gate lock fee (presently £7). The key code is private to members of the Association and must not be divulged to non-members. The key code is changed periodically, after prior notification to members.
Membership is terminated when a member ceases to pay the subscription. Infringement of the Associations Rules may lead to membership being withdrawn.
Uses of the Gardens - Members are free to enjoy full use of the Gardens subject to the following additional rules:
a. No person may remove or interfere with the plants, flowers, hedges, soil, compost, tools, fixtures, fittings or other property of the Association.
b. No garden or domestic refuse may be deposited anywhere in the Gardens, except for compostible organic matter which may be placed in the compost bins provided.
c. Dogs are to be kept under control, particularly near the flowerbeds, and are not to be permitted to annoy members.
(ALL DOG MESS SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE BINS PROVIDED)
d. Members' children are allowed access to all parts of the Gardens and may bring one other child.
e. No bicycles allowed.
f. Ball games must not be played in the rose garden.
g. Trees are not to be climbed.
h. Dangerous games (those using air guns, catapults, bows and arrows etc.) are not allowed.
i. Radios, CD/Cassette players and live music are not allowed, except when functions are held in the Gardens and this with the written permission of the Committee and with the undertaking that the volume will not be such that a nuisance is caused. All such music is to cease by 10 p.m.
In the event of the Association being disbanded for any reason, subscriptions will be refunded to paid-up members pro rata. All equipment that is the property of the Association will be sold, the proceeds to be either distributed among the membership or given to an agreed charity. Such decision to be made at an Extraordinary General Meeting.
